Earlier this year I assisted Rebecca Wordingham on a shoot for New Look celebrating the launch of the new Tall and Petite ranges in store. The new ranges were modelled by the girls from the New Look Head Office. The shoot was good fun! Here are the piccies and you can check out the new clothing ranges online too!

I’ve just gotten back to London after 3 glorious months in the California sun. Living by the beach, doing a little work in LA and spending time with friends and family really sets you up nicely for a new and exciting year!

While I was away, apart from shooting the look book for Mint clothing company at Keith Munyan’s LA studio which was a fantastic experience I also spent some time down at Universal Studios on the set of CSI. My very lovely friend Robert Dave Hall plays Dr. Al Robbins on the show, and has done so for the last 13 seasons. He brought me on set and introduced me to all the actors, writers and crew and I spent some fantastic time hanging out on set and learning from the amazing Hair and Make Up team.

I have to say it was probably the nicest set I have ever been on. The sets were incredible, they really have built the full 3D world of CSI within just a few (massive) stages at Universal and the crew and cast were absolutely lovely, including the new star of the show Ted Danson who really made sure to talk the time to sit down and chat with us which I thought was really nice of him and he was pretty funny too!

One of the nicest things for me to see on set was how many Brits there were working on the show. It’s amazing to see how well British crew are doing out in Hollywood, clearly there’s something about the British character and work ethic that is popular over in the states.

The real highlight for me was spending time chatting about make up and the industry with the fantastic Melanie Levitt. Melanie has worked on the show since 2001, she’s won an Emmy with the show (and been nominated many times) and she is now the head of an amazing team who apart from being very talented are also just really lovely people. She gave me some fantastic advice and let me have a little rummage through the set bags to check out what they were using which was pretty awesome. Next time I do hope to also meet the incredibly talented duo Clinton Wayne and Matthew Mungle who create the exceptional special effects make up on the show… but it’s great to have more to look forward to!

As fantastic as my trip was, one slight disappointment is that I missed the airing of ‘Fanny and Friends’ my first TV job in a special effects role. The show was aired on More4 and was on 4od for a few months but unfortunately I only found out about it at the very last minute and being out of the country I wasn’t able to watch the show on 4od myself. However some of my lovely friends did watch the show for me and some even said they wish it would go to a full series because they really enjoyed it which is fantastic. Debra Stephenson who plays Fanny Craddock in the show was an amazing actress to work with. She’s a lady who works incredibly hard and has a huge amount of talent at impressions. If anyone did catch it, I hope you enjoyed it and hopefully I will get myself a little copy one day soon which I can share with everyone!
